long time no see

Hey bloggers!

I have been MIA for a while mainly because of school but lets be real..I have had plenty of time that I could have come on and done a little update here and there.  I have been slowly getting out of my good exercise and diet routine and one of the first parts of that I think was when I stopped writing here.  I have been doing pretty good overall since I last blogged.  I now weigh 191.8 (out of the 200s :)!!) and have lost 58.2!!  I can definitely see the changes now and I'm happy about that.  I even have some size 14 jeans now...and when I started in the summer I was really a size 20 but trying to squeeze into my size 18s.  Now I have a pile collecting of things that aren't even wearable anymore.

I'm really happy with all this success but I'm not done yet.  My weight watchers goal is 170 so I still have about 20 lbs to lose.  Lately the weight has been coming off really slowly compared to summertime and that is discouraging to me. Up until about 2 weeks ago I was still losing, but at a slow pace..which is fine.  Two weeks ago I gained .4 and today at my WW meeting I gained 2.4 post thanksgiving weekend.  I was very sad at the meeting especially listening to the other members discuss how they were successful and made it through the week.  I confess that I pretty much went totally off plan for thanksgiving and the days at home that followed.  I still was fitting in some workouts so thats good but it was not compensating.  I was pretty good with the thanksgiving food but its that dang dessert that got me!  and the meal was at our house so we had all the leftovers sitting around staring me in the face!!  ahhhhhhhh!  Thanksgiving was great though because I saw all my family and none of them have seen me since at least the beginning of the summer when I was at my heaviest (60lbs larger).  Everyone gave me tons of compliments and noticed my changes.  I enjoyed the attention haha!

Anyways, I am back at school and am dedicated to sticking to plan, exercising, and getting back to my normal routine.  This will be hard as we are about to enter finals and life will get crazy but hopefull

football tailgating and weigh in

I can't believe its been another whole week! Time goes by so fast! UF had its first gator football game this weekend..luckily we won! Our team is not the best this year so I'm not sure how many more wins there will be.  Football games are really hard to stay on track eating wise for many reasons. Mainly the tailgate.  We went to our friend's apartment where they were tailgating for the game playing drinking games.  I probably had more beer than I should have..whoops :) We ended up staying there till it was time to go to the game and completely skipped lunch.  I guess I was still full from the beer so it wasn't that bad but luckily I brought an apple with me so I had something to eat on the walk to the stadium.  It was a 3:30 pm game and EXTREMELY hot in the stadium...we only lasted until less than halftime before we were so exhausted we had to leave.  I probably sweat off a lot of that beer while in the stadium..not kidding. So it wasn't a totally off diet day but definitely one that I did not fully follow my plan.
Go gators!
That is pretty much the only interesting thing I did this week but I did have a really successful gym session yesterday!  After class I had time before my weight watchers meeting at night so maybe I was extra motivated.  I was able to run for 15 minutes without stopping and about 1.5 miles!  I usually don't go this far before stopping so I was happy.  Then after that I went on the stairmaster at a higher level than I usually do for 15 minutes. I was dripping sweat at the end and felt good and exhausted at the same time.

Yesterday night I went to weight watchers and it was a good meeting.  Everyone was talking about all the successes they have had and what works for them and it was very enjoyable.  I really thought I wasn't going to lose a lot or any weight this week due to the football game and a few other questionable decisions but I lost 2.6 lbs!  So close to breaking that 50 lb loss now! I am looking better and feeling better every week now!  It is really noticeable in my clothing now..a lot of my clothes are loose and actually too loose to even wear anymore!  It is so weird!

All in all I've had a great week and I hope you have too!

Have a good weekend!

Weekly update with pictures!

I've been pretty busy now that school has started again but I'm gonna try and at least do a weekly update, hopefully more if anything interesting happens.

So as far as school, in my anatomy class we started doing cadaver lab which happens twice a week.  It was kinda freaky when we first walked in and saw the bodies but once we got started cutting it wasn't that bad..actually kinda cool! I'm sure a lot of people can not imagine this statement actually being true but it was for me! Also I had that class where I was afraid because we were gonna have to take our shirts off.  It wasn't that bad because the teacher wanted us to practice our draping skills so I was able to wear a hospital gown and wasn't fully exposed from the waist up minus the sports bra.  I know we will probably not be using the draping too much but at least I am able to ease into this new kind of learning.

My exercise and diet routine have changed somewhat since going back to school.  It is definitely harder to make myself go exercise after being in a full day of classes. Even harder to make meals for myself. Hardest to wake up extra early in the morning and actually eat a good breakfast while also making a healthy lunch to take to school with me.  I've been doing pretty good with it so far but I'm nervous for later in the semester when the work starts piling on and it is much more tempting to stop the exercise and healthy eating.

As for exercise I have been trying out some of the group exercise classes offered at the UF gym.  I went to Zumba with two different instructors but I wasn't too happy with either one.  I think since I had such great classes over the summer, it's hard to like these since I dont think they are as good.  I have also been doing a lot of treadmill and stairmaster.  I am trying to get better with running but I can't seem to make myself run more than a mile! I need to get outside and run but it has been raining almost every day and it is super hot when its not!  Winter come faster!!

My last update for the week is my weekly weigh in which was yesterday.  I was kind of disappointed in the new weight watchers meeting last week but this week it was better so that was good.  What was also good was that I lost 2.6 lbs for a total of 45 lbs exactly!! So exciting!  I was happy to reach another 5 pound mark.  Later I went with friends to the country bar in town and it was fun.  I ran into a friend from classes last year in the bathroom there and we only spoke for about 10 seconds but she said I looked really good and I was happy!  I love getting all the compliments :-)

I haven't put many pictures but here are a couple that I have taken since being back at school and one at the bottom from the end of last semester before summer:

classes and new weigh in meeting

Hey all!

I've had a pretty good first week of classes.  It hasn't been that hard to wake up for all the early days but I'm sure that won't last long. The classes have been interesting and I found out that in my functional anatomy lab where we are learning to palpate (feel for) the bony landmarks of the body we are all going to have to take our shirts off! So I will only be in a sports bra and shorts in front of 50 of my peers! It will definitely be embarrassing and I will feel self-concious the first time but hopefully I'll get used to it.  It will be even worse that not only will my shirt be off but my classmates will be feeling around my body.  Its hard to explain why we have to do this but yup we do. On the first day of class we had this lab and we were dressed professionally instead of the usual dress code which is gym shorts and shirt.  So the teacher didnt make the girls take off their shirts but he encouraged the guys to do so if they wanted to. We had to feel around the shoulder blade and locate different parts of the bone.

Anyways, since I moved up to gainesville I have to join the weight watchers up here.  I went to the first meeting yesterday and it was definitely a different feel than the meeting at home.  I like the one at home better but hopefully I like this one the more I go.  But I did like my weigh in this week....I lost 4 lbs!!  So now my total loss is 41.6...so happy to be past the 40 mark!  Only 9 more lbs until exciting things..50 lbs lost and I'll be under the 200s!!

Now I'm off to start my first weekend in gainesville with all the party animal college students :)

have a good weekend!

Happy picture!!

So I had my PT orientation today and it went pretty good! Everyone is really friendly and we are all just starting to get to know each other but I think it will definitely be an interesting 3 years! I mainly wanted to post to just show this picture I took of my new student ID next to one from 2009.  I have only been losing weight since may but I had pretty much been maintaining that 2009 picture weight or I was probably higher by the start of weight watchers in may.

and its the first student ID picture I actually approve! (and this is my 4th UF ID)

Move in and first meal

So I'm officially in my new apartment and loving it so far!  I still have a long way to go as far as decorating and organizing my room but its coming along nicely.  Today after my parents left there was a pool party/potluck that some other first years in my program organized. By the way I'm going to school for physical therapy and have orientation tomorrow!  I was pretty nervous about it being a pool party because I didn't want to have to get in my bathing suit in front of a bunch of people I don't know yet.  Although I've lost a pretty good amount of weight so far and see some changes, I still don't feel comfortable presenting myself to the people I'm gonna be spending the next 3 years with in a bathing suit.  Luckily for me, it started raining right about the time the party was supposed to start hahahaah. So everyone quickly changed plans and we had an indoor meet and greet instead.  It was fun and everyone was really nice so I'm excited to get started.

When I was home for summer, my mom cooked pretty much all my dinners so now I have to get back in the habit of cooking.  I know keeping up my healthy cooking will be harder when school starts but I had a pretty good start tonight.  I made tilapia with sugar snap peas and a sweet potato..it was yummy :). I also got my workout in today before dinner.  A great part about being back at school is the amazing gym that UF has!! There are sooo many different types of cardio machines and the machines are really high tech.  Each cardio machine has an individual tv on it and you can connect your ipod to the machine and pick songs from the touch screen.  Some machines even have little fans you can turn on!  You can also set the screen to look like you are biking or running through a city or other setting. Overall its the best and I'm excited to take full use of it.

Not sure how weigh in is gonna go this week since I've been kinda off diet during the move in but I'm gonna try and be really on track until thursday..which will now be my weigh in day instead of wednesday due to my class schedule.

Have a good week!

Birthday weekend craziness

So I wanted to blog earlier in the week to talk about my eventful weekend but I've been pretty busy packing all my stuff cause I'm moving back up to Gainesville on Saturday to start grad school! It's crazy and I'm trying to enjoy my last week of freedom while getting everything ready for the move.

But anyways, like I said previously my friend's 22nd birthday was Friday and some of our friends came down to south florida to celebrate for the weekend. We were planning on going to the beach on friday but there was tons of rain so we stayed in and just hung out for most of the day.  At night we went to Cowboys, which is a country club that recently opened up.  It was ladies night (get in free and drink free) so sounded good to us. It was fun but some of my alcoholic friends were not happy that they couldn't take their drinks on the dance floor like they can at the country bar in gainesville.  I stuck to rum and diet cokes through the night and felt good about that choice.

On Saturday we woke up late and ventured to South Beach for the day and luckily it was nice and sunny.  We headed straight to find a place for lunch and drinks and found a little cafe with 5.99 meals and 2 for 1 drinks.  Of course my friends were all over this..the only problem for me was the food choices for 5.99 were very limited and included things such as fried shrimp, pizza, hamburgers, and stuff I didn't really wanna mess my diet up with.  I decided the best choice would be the quesadilla. I thought that it meant chicken quesadilla for some reason and was pretty sad to find out it was just cheese in a tortilla..oh well it still tasted good :). The 2 for 1 drinks were HUGE and the 6 of us were able to each get 1 drink on our own on the special.  I got a Mai Tai and it tasted amazing. We were all feeling the alcohol after leaving lunch. To the right is an idea of just how big these drinks were.  After lunch we went on the beach for a while and then it was off to get the next drink (told you my friends were alcoholics)!  We went to Fat Tuesdays which has the BEST frozen daiquires!  I got a mixture of strawberry and lemonade and it tasted great!  I was obviously not thinking very healthy in these drink decisions but I decided to take a break and have fun for a day off.  Also we drank a lot but I didn't eat too much so I figured that was a pretty good trade haha.  Overall it was a good weekend seeing friends and a great way to end the summer.

Sunday, some of my family from NJ was in town so we all got together at my Aunt's house for lunch.  She made a salad bar so I didn't have any problems sticking to the plan that day.  After the weekend I went pretty strict back onto weight watchers and hoped I would get a loss by today.  Since the weekend I did a few exercise classes and ran around the neighborhood (twice around which is farther than ever and I was able to run longer than ever too!)  Today was my last day of membership at the gym with all my exercise classes and I got to end on a happy note there for a couple reasons.  First it was my favorite class, cardio mix, and second because a lady who goes weekly to the class gave me a compliment on my weight loss.  When I walked into the exercise room she came up to me and said "I have not been to this class in a month and now I can really notice that you have trimmed down alot!" It was great and that is the SECOND person in that class who has said something to me!  It just feels that much better when someone you don't even know comes up and compliments the hard work!

Finally I went to the WW meeting and I lost 1.8 lbs! I was so very happy with that number considering my possible overuse of alcohol during the weekend.  It makes me more hopeful that I can keep this up when I go back to school and am faced with challenges of going out with my rowdy alcoholic friends on a weekly basis.

So this was a pretty long post but I had a lot to say so hope you enjoyed reading!  Oh and I'll post pics from the weekend when I upload them to my computer :)

You Only Live Once

Hey all!

I had my weekly weigh in day yesterday and it was good news!  I lost 3.4 lbs for a total loss of 36.8! So happy with that number and the work I have been putting in. I'm a little nervous for the coming week though because I'm gonna be very busy and faced with a lot of temptations.  It's my friends birthday tomorrow and a few of our college friends are coming to visit for the weekend.  So there will be a lot of eating out and drinking this weekend but I'm already mentally preparing myself haha.

Yesterday after the WW meeting I went out with some of my friends to YOLO, a restaurant/lounge downtown, for ladies night.  I got a glass of wine because I'm oh so fancy ;). Afterwards we went to Roccos Tacos which has some of the best tacos I have ever tasted!!  I got three tacos but I have a new technique for lowering a few of the calories I take in. I eat two of the tacos and for the third I take the ingredients out of the tortilla and just eat it like a mini salad.  At least I can get rid of a little of the bread.  Also I usually like going out to eat or eating something less healthy on wednesday nights because I have the whole week until I have to get weighed again :).  Overall it was a good night and I had a lot of fun without feeling guilty about what I ate! yay me!!

I'll let you know how my friends birthday weekend goes..wish me luck and everyone have a great weekend!

Weekend updates

So I've had a pretty good time this weekend.  On Friday I decided to do something a little different for exercise so I went to a local park and ran around the trail there. I did a few laps (about a mile) and then I did a lap using the exercise stations along the trail.  Some the the stations were easy and some were definitely harder. I tried my best and it was fun to do something different for a change.  At night I went to Hard Rock with my friend and we went out to a couple of the bars. When I first saw my friend she told me I looked really good and said she could definitely see changes.  I love getting comments like that! Keeps me motivated for sure!  So one bar, called Wet Willies, was a daiquiri bar and I got a frozen sex on the beach.  It was very tasty and probably very off diet but I sipped on it for most of the night so I only had the one.

Today I skipped my step class because I hurt my foot yesterday and it was throbbing this morning.  Soooo I knew it would be really painful to be stepping up and down for an hour on my foot. I took it easy today and tried to stay out of the kitchen so I wouldn't eat that much. Later in the day my foot was feeling better so I decided to run outside in my neighborhood. My neighborhood is a big loop that is about a 1.6 mile distance. Running outside is definitely harder than running on the treadmill but I think I did pretty good today compared to when I have ran outside toward the beginning of the summer.  So I ran around the loop once and then biked around twice.  Biking after the run felt SO GOOD because of the amazing breeze on my sweaty face. hahah overall great workout to end the weekend :)

Kickboxing, weigh in, and piercing pics

Hey blogger friends!

I have been MIA for the last week mainly because nothing too interesting has happened and I don't wanna bore you with the same topics over and over. I went to my usual gym classes and did a couple treadmill workouts this week.  One new class I went to this week was kickboxing yesterday with my one of my favorite instructors at the gym. Usually I can't go to this class because I always seem to be babysitting on Tuesday nights.  Since I wasn't babysitting I decided to go..and it was intense (which I expected). I love that the instructor uses all hip hop music though because it makes it more enjoyable for me and I found some great new songs to download!

On to other news, here's a random fact about me: Up until this summer, I did not have my ears pierced. I was pretty much the only 22 year old without a single piercing until my relative got me a pair of earrings as a graduation gift. I told her they were nice but I didn't have my ears pierced..her response was "well I guess you are gonna have to get them pierced!" hahah and we went to claires in the mall that night! So now I am finally able to take out the starter earrings and start trying on some new ones.  Today I tried on my first pair of hoops..it was definitely weird seeing them in my ears.  Here are some pics of me with my brand new pierced ears :)
The earrings that caused my pierced ears
Getting ready to go out to dinner wearing the new earrings

Today when I tried on hoop earrings for the first time

Last but not least, its Wednesday so weigh in day again....I lost 3 lbs!!!!  YAYY so 33.4 total!  Also I updated my weign in section of the blog with a more complete week to week weight loss since the beginning of my journey so you can go check that out if you feel like it :)

Hopefully I'll have a more interesting week this week so I have something more to blog before the next weigh in.

Have a good rest of the week and weekend!

Weigh day

Its weigh in wednesday again today which is crazy because I feel like the last week (and pretty much the whole summer) has flown by! Anyways before I get to that, here's the highlights from my last couple days.

Yesterday instead of an exercise class I went to work out at the gym with my friend Jen. She likes to do a lot of weights for the different muscle groups so when I wanna do some toning I like to go with her. I wore my new asics running sneakers that I just bought and I'm excited to run a lot more in them. The day I got them (I think Monday) I eagerly went on the treadmill and ran/walked 2 miles.  They were pretty comfy but I made a mistake of wearing short short socks and by the end of the 2 miles the back of my foot was rubbing on the shoes. I got a little blister and now it hurts :( which makes it harder to wear shoes and do exercise. So I guess I have to wear in the shoes a little more and wear the right socks before I can get total satisfaction from them. So back to working out with Jen we did 30 minutes of cardio and then weights for the shoulder/chest area. I'm pretty weak in the shoulders so I am definitely feeling sore today. There are good and bad parts about going to the gym with Jen. The good is that she stays there for a long time and does a lot of different things. The bad part is that she goes to the gym around 6/6:30 so by the time we leave I am always starving for dinner! It's weird: when we were in the gym I wasn't hungry at all and immediately when we stepped outside of the gym my stomach started growling. haha.

Today I started the morning with my Cardio Mix class. It was pretty good as usual but even more brutal in the weights section because of my workout with Jen the previous night. Every week when I go to the class I notice mostly the same faces who also go the the class on a weekly basis but I never really talk to anyone. Today at the end of the class one woman who goes weekly to the class who I have never spoken to before came up to me and said "you are really looking good lately!" That comment really made my day because my hard work has paid off enough for even strangers to have seen a difference! I was so happy and I even shared that meeting at the weight watchers meeting later in the day.

Speaking of weight watchers I lost 0.8 lbs this week.  Not too much but it did bring my total up to 30.4 lbs lost!! Yay to reaching 30 and I'm now looking forward to 40!

Till next time,
Ronna

Sunday Slum Day

I haven't written in a few days because nothing has really happened worth talking about. The highlight of the last few days exercise wise was on friday when I did a treadmill running workout.  I was planning to do 1 mile running so I covered the time and distance meter with my towel so I wouldn't be constantly thinking about it.  When I felt I was coming upon a mile I took the towel off and was pleasantly surprised to see I had passed a mile!!  I wasn't totally out of fuel so I kept running and I went 1.5 miles and 17 minutes straight running! I've never done that before!! YAYYY!

Today I went to my step class and maybe I was still tired or not feeling it as much today because it was harder for me to get through it than usual.  I was very happy when it was over but I still enjoy going to it because I always leave feeling like I really worked hard.  I haven't done much else today and I'm just sitting around the house trying to stay out of the kitchen so I don't keep thinking about eating.  I tend to eat more when I'm bored so today has been kind of hard but I think I've done alright. Now I'm off to babysit for the night so I'll get out of the house and get money!

Baby, weigh in, and froyo

I had a really busy day today compared to my other lazy summer days.  I went to my cardio mix class at 10:30 for an hour of good exercise and then I babysat from 12-3.  I didnt have much time in between the two but I made it work by basically blasting the air in my car to cool myself down before I had to go babysit.  I was considering just skipping the exercise class to make my life a little easier but I really like this class and wanted to get in some exercise before getting weighed later.

After babysitting I had to go to a clinic to get my TB test read (required to get one every year in the health field - boo).  Luckily I don't have TB ;). Right after this I went straight to weight watchers for the weekly meeting. I lost 3 lbs this week so now my total loss is 29.6! So close to 30!! yayyyy!

I finished the night by going to dinner with a couple friends.  I like to eat out after weight watchers because I know I won't have to be weighed in for another whole week! haha! I still try to eat healthy though so I was pretty happy that the menu had some health alternatives.  I got a chicken breast with veggies and brown rice and it was all really good!  Afterwards we went for frozen yogurt and I got NY cheesecake flavor with some strawberries and raspberries on top.  It was soo yummy and a great treat! Usually when I used to go to froyo and ice cream shops where you can add all the toppings you want, I would go for all the chocolate and candy items.  It feels good that I can now skip all that and just add some guilt free fruit to my yogurt.  yummy!

All in all, pretty good day today :)

1 Mile!

The last couple of days have not been anything out of the ordinary. Yesterday I went to my once a week step class.  One of my friends first introduced me to this class and now I go more often than her! I love this class because it's interesting, fun, and a great cardio workout! The first week I went to step, it was really for me because I didn't know any of the movements and when the instructor would say to do something I would get confused.  I have definitely noticed my improvements through this class because now I know all the moves and can follow along with the rest of the class. Every third Sunday, which was yesterday, the instructor mixes things up by having us do "multiple step." In this class instead of just using one step, everyone uses four steps set up in a square. It's a little bit more complicated but a cool change every once in a while.

Anyways, after that class I had a pretty lazy Sunday.  I got a code for a free Redbox movie so I went and picked up "A little bit of heaven." The movie was about a woman who finds out she has terminal cancer. It was ok but not the greatest.
Today I decided to go on the treadmill for exercise.  Previously I have been able to almost run a full mile but I wanted to run the whole mile today.  I DID!! I was soo happy because even though a mile might not sound like much, I know its alot compared to where I started.  It took me 11 minutes to complete the mile and then after taking a few minutes walking break I ran another .6 miles! In total I did 2 miles in 25 minutes.  The more weight I lose and exercise I do, the easier running becomes.  I cannot wait until I am able to do even more!

Me post treadmill today

Short trip to Gville

Yesterday I went up to Gainesville to move out of my undergrad college apartment. I am spending the summer at home but the move out date is July 31st so me and my mom picked this weekend to go finish getting my stuff out of there. My new apartment move in date is not until August 18th so moving my things has been a very complicated venture. The day involved lugging my heavy items up and down the stairs in the very hot summer heat so I was definitely sweating and getting a little exercise haha!

We came back home today but throughout my overnight trip I think I made pretty good food choices. When we arrived at lunch time we went to pita pit which is pretty much the pita version of subway.

You can get any pita as a salad so I had chicken on a salad filled with lots of different veggie toppings.  Then for dinner we went to a new restaurant and the food was sooooo good! I got a salad but it had so many great toppings on it such as corn, beans, salsa, and avocado. It was topped with a huge piece of chicken with chimichurri sauce that tasted great! I only ate about half the salad but I was completely satisfied because it was very large.  I saved the second half and had it for lunch today.  There were so many great juices in that salad that I barely even had to use any of my light dressing.

The best part of the trip was seeing some of my friends that I haven't seen since graduation in May.  They all haven't seen me since losing weight and they all said that I looked really good. It was so good to hear that others really do see the progress I'm making. It gives me a boost to want to continue on further to impress everyone when I go back up to school in the fall.

Anyways here are a couple photos of me so you can kinda see the person behind the blog :)

Weigh in Wednesday

Today I went to my favorite gym class of the week which is called cardio mix.  It is a combination of high intensity and low intensity exercises and is very different from any other classes I have ever taken.  An hour of cardio mix definitely makes me feel like I worked out hard!  I consider this class my "last chance workout" before my weekly weigh in at weight watchers.

So since there was no WW meeting last week on 4th of July, it has been two weeks since I last weighed in. I was very happy that the scale showed 223.6 which was a 7 pound loss!! So now I have lost 26.6 lbs total.  I also hit my 10% goal! I love Wednesdays when I do good at WW!

Zumba and Beach

Today I started my morning off with Zumba! I really like this class because its fun music, easy dances, and makes me sweat a lot! This was the instructor's last day doing tuesday morning zumba so I guess I will have to find some other form of exercise for tuesdays.

After the gym, I came home and when it was time for lunch I didn't feel like having yet another salad.  So I made a smart ones weight watcher meal instead.  It was turkey and cranberry sauce with potatoes and veggies.  It was pretty good for a tv dinner and it was 6 points which is good for a lunch.  I followed this meal up with some yummy pineapple and cherries.

Later I went to the beach with a friend and enjoyed the Florida sun and waves. The waves were kind of big today but being in the water felt nice and refreshing. Tomorrow is WW so hopefully I have good results to share!!

Monday, July 9, 2012

Today was a typical summer day for me.  I was relatively lazy today but I did make myself get up and go to the gym.  I completed 2 miles and it took me 28 minutes to do. I was again able to run for a full 10 minutes and I was happy about that. I followed the WW plan pretty well today and hopefully I see good results at the WW meeting on Wednesday.

The other thing occupying my time this summer besides diet and exercise is babysitting.  I babysit on a regular basis for a family with a 3 year old girl.  She is really cute and it is fun to spend time with her.  The family uses babysitting most nights of the week so it is like my own part-time job.  It is great because it is a very flexible schedule that allows me plenty of time to get my exercise in during the day.  It also helps get me out of the house and stop thinking about food.  Tonight I babysat and then came home and watched american ninja warrior.  I am a reality tv fanatic and watch ALOT of these types of shows.  I recently started watching ANW this summer and I have been watching it regularly.  It is amazing what these guys can do with their bodies!

Hi blogging world! My name is Ronna and im 22 years old and about to start graduate school at the University of Florida.  I decided to start this, my first ever blog, as a way to talk about changes I have recently started to make in my life.

As I graduated from my 4 undergraduate years at UF, I had reached my highest weight.  I decided that I would take the summer to jumpstart a journey that could take a very long time.  I had from May-August with no school commitments to completely focus on losing weight. Beginning in May 2012, I joined Weight Watchers and began following the program along with my mom and dad. I also decided to get a gym membership and go to the gym at least 5-6 times per week. I didnt have too much trouble adjusting to the food aspect of the diet because I was still able to eat a lot of great tasting things through WW (weight watchers). Going to the gym was grueling and hard sometimes but I kept going.  I found that I really enjoyed the group exercise classes that the gym offered.  They were a great way to get in cardio exercise they made the time pass by faster than just going on a treadmill or elliptical.

On a regular basis I began going to zumba, step, step and sculpt, kickboxing, and the occasional spinning class.  I still tried to walk/run on the treadmill and exercise in other ways.  When I first started in may, I could only run for about 3 minutes at a time and I was very frustrated with that.  I felt pretty pathetic that after such a short period of time I was huffing and puffing. As I started to go to the gym classes more, I stopped trying to run as often.  Last week I went on the treadmill and was pretty shocked with the improvements I had made.  I was able to run 10 minutes and almost a full mile!  It doesnt sound like much but I remembered running when I first started I was ecstatic that I had actually improved! Running is really hard for me but I know that if I stick with it and continue to exercise, running will also become easier.

I began my journey at the beginning of May and it is now July 9th. I have lost 25 lbs so far and I'm excited to keep going.  Above is my summary of what I have been doing so far this summer so from now on I will update more about daily activities.
